WOW! Classes for Homeschoolers at Valley Youth Theater

WOW! THE DRAMA OF LANGUAGE ARTS - JUST FOR HOMESCHOOLERS

A fun and engaging program designed to integrate Language Arts studies with Visual and Performing Arts to enrich your child's education.  This class is designed to enhance the core of a homeschooler’s English Language Arts (ELA) curriculum. Students will read books with the group, learn and practice exciting and impactful reading and writing techniques, including the Six Traits, and create theatrical scripts.  Students will develop an understanding of production elements, including lighting, costumes, and set design, while learning the basics of acting, singing and dancing - all via experiential, meaningful and inspiring language arts work. 

 

8-week Session (Winter Session starts Jan. 12)

Meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:30-11:30 a.m.  

Located at Valley Youth Theatre (1st St. and Fillmore). 

Class size is limited so as to ensure personalized and individual attention.

Cost $495 for 8-week session

Spanish Class, Grades K-4th, Mondays 4-5 p.m., Arcadia Neighborhood

Class Description: Custom Spanish Enrichment class for children in grades PK-3.  Students will develop their Spanish skills in new, dynamic ways, while having fun and making personal connections with and meaning of their learning! Within a warm, loving, and inspiring classroom environment, students will be guided through various hands-on activities, including active play, music, art, and other everyday activities to deeply root Spanish language into their real world, conversational vocabulary and knowledge base. Students will develop speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in Spanish! Class instruction and experiences will enable students’ excitement for displaying their bilingual and bi-literate competencies. Students will develop a linguistic advantage and appreciation for Spanish culture and language.

Custom Classes and Tutoring!

Want to put together a fabulous Enrichment class for your child(ren), or does your child maybe just need a little extra academic support to help them engage at school? WOW!'s teachers will create a customized enrichment class for your child, and their friends if you wish! Classes can be focused on reading, writing, math, science, Spanish, drama, cooking, and/or art (or a combination of subjects!), and can take place at a student's home or another location of the group's choice. Multi-age groups welcome! Give your child an enriching, safe and FUN learning experience, and maybe include his/her friends!

ORIGAMI

12:15-1:15 pm (Gr 4-6)

Learn basic origami folds and figures as well as intermediate level pieces and modular sculptures. Teamwork encouraged, and students will make a plethora of creative pieces!

AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE, PART I

Learn basic signs in this introductory sign language class.

CORN SNAKES MEET ESIO TROT

Observe, handle, measure, feed, compare/contrast through data inquiry and make scientific drawings of a corn snake and a tortoise.

READER'S THEATER

Participate in presenting a classic fable or fairy tale as a member of a reader's theater cast. Students are encouraged to bring their own favorite fable or fairy tale to share!

ACT IT OUT STORIES

12:15-1:15 pm (Gr 5-8)

Add a little drama to your life.  Revisit and revamp familiar stories and dramatize them! Bring a favorite, if you’d like!

Designed for grades 5-8. Classes meet Mondays during the 8-week sessions from 4-6:00 pm.
